Last week Jessie Vargas (28-2) was very confident at his media day in Las Vegas. BoxingScene.com was on hand as the former two-division champion put the finishing touches on his training camp for his April 21st showdown against Adrien Broner (33-3).
The fight headlines a Showtime triple header that also includes Gervonta Davis facing Jesus Cuellar for the vacation WBA “regular” super featherweight title and Jermall Charlo squaring off against Hugo Centeno for the interim WBC middleweight title.
A lot of Vargas’ self confidence stems from his belief that he is just the overall better fighter and that his versatility will secure him the victory.
"In this fight we just have to focus on the game plan. The good thing is that I am very versatile and we can do different things. We can fight on the inside, we can make it a brawl if I want too or I can outbox him and keep the distance. It's all up to me and my team and what we want to do. I think you are going to see different things throughout the fight,” said Vargas.
The 28-year-old also revealed that he is going to switch it up during the fight and that he plans on giving the fans a taste of his diverse skill set.
“At times we are going to make it a brawl and at times we are going to make it a boxing match but that is what is going to make it an entertaining match because you are going to see diversity and that is all going to come from me because I am going to dictate the action and do what I want to do that night," Vargas explained.
This will be Vargas second fight under the Premier Boxing Champions banner and also his second with former three-division champion Mike McCallum as his trainer.
