Jermell Charlo is already talking about a big game against his upcoming counterpart Canelo Alvarez.

Charlo (35-1-1, 19 KOs) and Alvarez (59-2-2, 39 KOs) are set to clash on Sept. 30 in Las Vegas on Showtime pay-per-view in a yet-to-be-named venue.

The undisputed 154-pound champion Charlo will be stepping up two weight divisions to challenge the undisputed 168-pound champion Alvarez in the first-ever fight in the four-belt era between undisputed champions.

Although an official press conference has not yet kicked off the promotional cycle for the fight, Charlo got a headstart on the pre-fight pageantry.

"I believe I got the speed. I got the power. I know one thing about it is Canelo, he is strong. I feel like I'm probably a bigger puncher than Canelo. That's going to be the surprise,” Charlo said on Showtime.

“I'm not just a little 154-pounder when I walk around. And I don't have to struggle to make 168. So I'm going to have a great time. Training camp has been good. I've already been training for months.”

The 33-year-old Charlo kicked off his career in 2007 as a 147-pound fighter and has been exclusively fighting at 154 pounds since 2011.

Charlo became the undisputed super welterweight champion in May 2022 when he scored a tenth-round stoppage win against Brian Castano.

Charlo will sport a four-inch height advantage and a 2 ½ inch reach advantage against Alvarez.

The four-division champion Alvarez is two months younger than the Texan.
