Greg Leon, adviser to former light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal (29-2-1, 17KOs), had informed BoxingScene.com that he received numerous offers since Pascal became a promotional free agent.
Pascal, 31-years-old, had a long-standing promotional relationship with Yvon Michel of GYM. The contract ran out with Pascal's dominating decision win in January over Canadian rival Lucian Bute.
In the last few weeks, Pascal's name has emerged as a potential opponent for several major players at 168 and 175.
Per their contractual agreement, Michel has the right to match any offer received by Pascal.
Leon is hoping that Michel matches those offers in order to continue their successful relationship.
"Jean Pascal has presented Yvon Michel with multiple third party offers. It is the sincere hope of Team Pascal that he matches these offers so we can continue our ongoing, long-standing, mutually beneficial and profitable relationship moving forward," Leon told BoxingScene.com.
Leon indicates to BoxingScene that he should have an answer from Michel by April 17th.
Despite the quick rise of WBC champion Adonis Stevenson, who Michel also promotes, Leon is beyond confident that Pascal's name is still standing firm as the most lucrative player at 175-pounds. In other words, promoters will have to come prepared, financially, if they plan to secure the services of Pascal.
"The bottom is line, Pascal is the cash cow of the division," Leon said. "Everyone is entitled to their opinions on who the best light heavyweight in the world is, but there can be no doubt that Jean Pascal is the cash cow in the light heavyweight division. Everyone that you're going to name, makes more money fighting Pascal than anyone else."
