Trainer Jeff Mayweather, uncle to WBA/WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (47-0, 26 KOs), views the addition of strength and conditioning coach Alex Ariza as a positive boost to his nephew's camp.

Mayweather is training for his high stake unification with WBO champion Manny Pacquiao on May 2nd from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Pacquiao had worked with Ariza for several years before he was fired by Manny's trainer, Freddie Roach.

Ariza came on board with Mayweather's team earlier this year. Most saw the move to hire Ariza as a pre-fight mind game by Mayweather, and even Jeff admits that he first believed his nephew was going in the direction.

After watching how his nephew is displaying an increased level of punching power in sparring, and viewing the exercises that Ariza has Floyd doing - Jeff now views the addition of Ariza as being a positive force as the camp continues.

Jeff also says Ariza's addition is important because he knows a lot about Pacquiao's flaws and personal habits from being involved in numerous training camps.

"[The change in training] is subtle, but it's a major difference for Floyd because he's never done it," Jeff Mayweather said to Mlive.com. "Floyd's a beast. The only thing I can attribute it to is his own strength, in his mind, and having a real strength trainer for the first time. Originally, I think Floyd got [Ariza] just to mess with Manny's mind. But he knows Manny's history and his flaws and everything else."
