According to veteran trainer Virgil Hunter, 62-years-old, he is still fully capable of mixing it up when he has to.

A few weeks ago, WBA 'regular' welterweight champion Keith 'On Time' Thurman (26-0, 22KOs) discussed the possibility of a fight with Amir Khan (31-3, 19KOs), who is trained by Hunter. He was annoyed that Hunter questioned his chin and promised not only to drill Khan but also to drop Hunter as well.

Hunter warns that if Thurman came at him, he has a few tricks up his sleeve to handle the hard-punching welterweight.

“I laugh at Keith, God bless his heart. I love him. When he said he wanted to knock me out......Keith, you better cut that ponytail before you talk about knocking me out. I’ll grab you by your ponytail and break your neck, boy," Hunter told ES News.

"They don’t understand that. I’m a 62-year-old man and I won’t play no games with you. I know some things that will take you straight out of here, and I have no problem utilizing it.”

Thurman and Khan now share a common opponent in former welterweight champion Luis Collazo. Khan dominated Collazo last year, scoring three knockdowns for a lopsided twelve round decision. Thurman stopped Collazo in seven rounds in July, but not before the veteran hurt Thurman with a hard hook to the body in the earlier rounds.

Thurman is planning to return in late November, early December and Khan is also discussing a return in the fall, but also mentioning the possibility of sitting out until early 2016 to fight former Wild Card stablemate Manny Pacquiao.
