Because his fight with Argentine slugger Lucas Matthysse was pushed back from the 19th of May to the 23rd of June, former champion Humberto "Zorrita" Soto was forced to modify his training camp and he wants to stay active.

Out of the ring since last November, Soto has booked a quick tuneup bout for next Saturday, April 7th, in Cancun. Soto (57-7-2-1, 34KOs) will take on Brazilian boxer Claudinei Lacerda (14-2, 10 KOs) in a fight to be televised by Televisa.

Soto's fight against Lucas Matthysse is taking place on Victor Ortiz-Andre Berto undercard in Los Angeles. The Mexican boxer is working hard with his coach Romulo Quirarte.

"The change of date in the Matthysse bout, also changed my plans. It has been moved to June and instead of being idle during this time period, we will take a tun-up fight," Soto said. "Since I confirmed that my next fight will be on April 7 in Cancun, I went to the gym. We know that the opponent will be difficult and the most important thing is to be disciplined in training."

"Zorrita" is motivated to defeat Lucas Matthysse (30-2-0-1, 28 KOs) and move on a title opportunity at 140-pounds.

"Honestly we are very anxious to get the [June] date and show what we are made of...We want the big names," he said. "Lucas Matthysse is a great fighter, he's strong, but we know that if we win - there will be even bigger fights. It's a dream for me to win a fourth title. And most of all I want to jump to stardom in the fight against Matthysse. We know that he is one of the toughest fighters that exists right now. I have been criticized for my opponents, but I am a professional and we will look [to fight] with names like Matthysse, in order to position ourselves as one of the elite fighters [in boxing]."
