Former undisputed heavyweight champion of the world Evander Holyfield believes that right now he can beat Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko. The former champion spoke with Bleak Sport about why he continues to fight in his late 40s. He discussed the problems facing the Klitschko brothers to get more popular with the American boxing fans.
"Their trouble is that they are not Americans. And in the U.S., they only love their own. Boxers from other countries need a lot of years to win the love of America. There are, of course, exceptions to the rule. But in this case the men should be very aggressive in the ring and give the fans this show. The brothers use more cautious tactics in the ring," Holyfield said.
"A lot of people do not like that they prefer not to take risks in the ring. But the main reason, nevertheless, is their nationality. If Wladimir or Vitali were Americans, they would favored here."
Holfyfield at his late age says he is ready to fight either brother for the heavyweight title of the world. He is not sure about a third fight with Mike Tyson because of inactivity.
"I think that I could beat them now. I really think so. I'm not sure about Tyson because Mike, unlike me, hung his gloves up on a nail a long time ago," Holyfield said.
"Valuev was much younger than me and much bigger. But I beat him. If you watched the fight, I think, you would agree with me. However, to complain [about the decision] - it's not my cup of tea. I'm going to prove that the impossible is possible."
