WBA heavyweight champion David Haye is backing countryman Ricky Hatton on his decision to return to the ring. Hatton announced his comeback a few short weeks ago. He plans to get in the ring in the next few months. A lot of his fans and friends have asked him walk away and retire. Haye promises to attend Hatton's return to show support from ringside.

"I think it's great Ricky has decided to make a comeback," Haye told MEN Sport. "Whatever he feels he needs to do I will support him 100 percent. If he wanted to retire I would support that, too. If he feels he still has something to give then why not. You can be sure that whenever he fights Ricky is going to draw a big crowd. He will give a good night's entertainment and the one thing he can count on is me being ringside for that fight."

Haye made a promise to eliminate John Ruiz on April 3 at the MEN Arena in Manchester. He wants to batter Ruiz so bad that he never returns to the ring again. Though Ruiz has said retirement will be factor if Haye beats him.

"I like to call him a cure for insomnia," Haye said. "No one wants him because of his style. People in Puerto Rico say he is American and the Americans say he is from Puerto Rico. But I'm going to make sure it's the last time they see John Ruiz."
