David Haye has accused world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury of heaping shame on his sport over his controversial comments since his upset victory over Wladimir Klitschko in Germany.
Speaking on BBC Radio Two's Jeremy Vine programme on Monday, Fury refused to back down on his claims that the world would end once homosexuality, abortion and paedophilia were legalized.
Former champion Haye returns to the ring after a three-and-a-half year absence in January when he faces Australian fighter Mark de Mori in London, and is hoping to move into the frame for a shot at Fury.
Haye told the Guardian: "I thought I was the controversial bad guy, but Fury has got to stop saying that.
"Come on man - just shut up. It's stupid and wrong and it's giving boxing another negative headline. Stop it. Just stick to singing after the fight - that's good."
Almost 80,000 people have signed a petition calling on the BBC to remove Fury from its 12-strong shortlist for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award.
Fury had previously said that fellow nominee and world heptathlon champion Jessica Ennis-Hill "looks good in a dress" and added: "I know for a million percent I've got more personality in the end of my little finger than the whole of the nomination group put together."
Fury attempted to clarify his comments to Vine, insisting he did not equate homosexuality to pedophilia, but repeating the controversial views he originally made in a pre-fight interview with Mail on Sunday.
Fury told Vine: "Homosexuality, abortion and pedophilia - those three things need to be accomplished before the world finishes - that's what the Bible tells me.
"It may take a while before those three things can be accomplished, but make no mistake, those three things must be accomplished before the world finishes, if it takes 1,000 years, 10,000 years or two days - those three things need to be accomplished.
"That isn't my opinion, I didn't say that, that's what the Bible tells me, and that's all I said. I didn't say I had a problem with homosexuals or abortionists or pedophiles, I didn't say I'm with it or against it, I just stated what I am taught through my scriptures."
