It was reported by Black Entertainment Television ( Full Story ) , that Anthony Hanshaw's manager Bryan Justus, during a taped interview with a reporter for Black PR Wire, accused well-known promoter Gary Shaw of making a racist remark.

Justus called a reporter for Black PR Wire and alleged that Shaw used the phrase “black freaking monkey” in reference to one of his clients.

"'You're not going to believe what Gary Shaw just told me.' There were a lot of things said by him [Shaw] but one of the biggest things said by him, which I thought was a racial slur, was that he would put me and my ‘Black freaking monkey’ out of business and that he runs the show and Tony [Hanshaw] belongs to him," Justus said.

"Yeah I was floored, but I'm actually the kind of guy who sits back and listens more than I speak, but when I get to a point where I feel I need to speak then I will speak. I try to be selective in my choice of words but when he said that it threw me for a loop I couldn't believe it."

Shaw has gone on the record to say that he never made such a comment and further, he would be willing to take a lie detector test to prove that he never made such a comment to Justus.
