It was an easy night for champion Joan Guzman (27-0, 17 KOs), who won a unanimous decision over Antonio Davis (22-3, 11 KOs) in the first defense of his recently won WBO super featherweight title.
The hometown Santo Domingo crowd in the Dominican Republic cheered on Guzman as he put on a show with sheer aggresive tactics, showboating and plenty of landed punches.
Davis fouled often with his head and elbows, resulting in a point being taken away in the eight, and Guzman's left eye being swollen. The final scores were 116-110, 118-109 and 119-108, all for Guzman.
Guzman said after the contest that he wants to fight Filipino bomber Manny Pacquiao in 2007.
