WBA super middleweight champion George Groves admits that he didn't watch last weekend's vicious knockout victory by Chris Eubank Jr.

Eubank retained his IBO world title with a three round destruction of previously undefeated Avni Yildirim in Berlin, Germany.

This Saturday night in London, Groves will defend his title against undefeated Jamie Cox.

Both fights are part of the ongoing World Boxing Super Series super middleweight tournament.

Eubank has already advanced with his victory. If Groves wins this Saturday, the two of them will collide, potentially on a date in January - with the 20th of that month being placed on hold.

Groves felt, even prior to Eubank's fight, that Yildirim was too flawed and had too many holes in his game.

"I had no need to watch Eubank. We already knew that his opponent (Yildirim) has lots of weaknesses. I am staying up late now but I waited until the Sunday morning to be told the result of Chris’s fight," Groves told Daily Mail.

"I’ve been told the gist of how it went. He knocked Yildirim down with an uppercut in the first round, won the second then finished him off in the third. It tells me a lot about the opponent. Nobody should risk getting caught by uppercuts that early in a fight. It’s a muggy shot to be hit with at any time but no decent, experienced boxer would walk on to one straight from the first bell. The people are excited about Chris’s performance so that’s good for the tournament."

What excites Groves, is the venue selection for a showdown with Eubank.

"What I am locked into, in addition of making sure there are no slip ups against Cox, is the discussions about where I might fight Eubank. Chelsea is being mentioned. That’s my team and I would love to fight there," Groves said.

"There’s a chance they won’t want to risk damaging the Stamford Bridge pitch and so we’re also looking at probably Fulham football ground (Craven Cottage), maybe QPR’s Loftus Road. Fighting outside in winter wouldn’t bother me. I like outdoor fights. It can get really hot in arenas under the art lights."
