WBA/IBO/IBF middleweight champion Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin (35-0, 32KOs) is not planning to do a maneuver like Erislandy Lara in two weeks.

Golovkin plans to sit ringside on May 7th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, when Canelo defends his WBC middleweight title against Amir Khan in the headline bout of an HBO Pay-Per-View event.

The World Boxing Council has ordered the Canelo-Khan winner to face Golovkin next.

Golovkin has been waiting for his mandatory shot at the WBC title for some time.

On Saturday night at the Forum in Los Angeles, Golovkin blew past unbeaten IBF mandatory challenger Dominic Wade in two rounds. Now his full attention is on the winner of Canelo-Khan.

But Canelo is not exactly eager to make that fight in the fall. He seems more inclined to have that fight at some point in 2017. He also ruled out the idea of fighting Golovkin at the middleweight limit of 160-pounds.

A few years ago, Lara confronted Canelo at a post-fight press conference at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. That verbal spat eventually secured a Canelo PPV opportunity for Lara.

Golovkin has no intention of confronting Canelo at the presser or in the ring.

"This is not my style. He knows, I know, everybody knows the situation," Golovkin said.

And GGG's promoter Tom Loefler of K2 also chimed in - "He will be in Las Vegas for that fight. He is not going to go in the ring to call [Canelo] out. He is going there to see who wins that fight."
