Abel Sanchez, trainer for WBA/IBO/IBF middleweight champion Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin, says Saul "Canelo" Alvarez has absolutely no power to demand a catch-weight of 155-pounds.

Canelo will challenge WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto on November 21 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. The HBO Pay-Per-View fight is taking place at a catch-weight of 155-pounds.

The winner has been ordered by the World Boxing Council to fight Golovkin, the WBC's interim-champion, in a mandatory defense.

Canelo, if he wins, has already stated that he won't fight Golovkin at any weight above 155-pounds.

While he's made those statements several times in the last two weeks, Canelo has refused to confirm that he'll vacate the belt and return to junior middleweight.

Golovkin and his team will press Canelo to fight them at the full division limit of 160, because the Mexican fighter's back is against the wall with the WBC's mandatory order. Because of that order, Canelo will have to face Golovkin at the full 160 or vacate the belt. If he vacates, then Golovkin will become the full champion.

"Canelo hasn’t got a leg to stand on if he’s gonna demand to fight at a catch-weight because if he can’t fight at 160-pounds then he can vacate the belt and we can fight somebody else," Sanchez told On The Ropes Boxing Radio.

"Gennady is not after Canelo or Cotto, Golovkin is after the middleweight belt and he wants all four of them, the major ones. Once he does that, then we’ll look at other options, but Cotto or Canelo is not what’s on his mind, the middleweight belt is what’s on his mind, and whoever is across the ring is the next victim."
