Trainer Robert Garcia believes that 'Bam Bam' Brandon Rios is far from finished and will showcase his skill on August 2 against Diego 'Joya' Chaves at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.
Rios (31-2-1, 23 KO) returns after a very rocky 2013, where he lost back to back decisions to Mike Alvarado and Manny Pacquiao, and saw his career suffer a nine month suspension for testing positive for a banned substance following the Pacquiao fight. Chaves (23-1, 19 KO) fought in February, where he recovered from his loss to Keith Thurman by knocking out Juan Godoy.
"Brandon is not finished like many people think. We want to show that losing to Pacquiao on points has not affected him. If he beats Chaves, I'd like for him to go against Timothy Bradley. We've asked for that fight. I don't want to disrespect Chaves, we know that he's is a tough guy. Brandon is very motivated, training hard, and he's been losing weight very well. We decided to go against Chaves because he is a good fighter. He had a great fight against Thurman. A lot of people thought he was winning until he went down. I didn't want an easy opponent, but beating someone like Chaves would put us in the best positions," Garcia said.
