Tough middleweight Gabe Rosado (21-9, 13KOs) is pushing to get a shot at former WBC champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (49-2-1, 32KOs) in the fall.
Chavez was back in the ring earlier this month and won a tougher than expected ten round decision over countryman Marcos Reyes.
Rosado has been splitting his time between boxing and the newly started BKB (Big Knockout Boxing), which is similar to pro boxing with the combatants fighting in a small pit.
Rosado always creates fireworks and sometimes his gutsy instinct to engage backfires on him. He's gone winless in his last four fights and the last time he grabbed a victory was in 2012. But he's also been facing the very best fighters that 160 has to offer. He was stopped by Gennady Golovkin, Peter Quillin and David Lemieux in three of his last four. A close decision loss to J'Leon Love was changed to a no-contest when Love failed a post-fight drug test.
Chavez wants to return in September or October. Rosado is eager to get in there with him and doesn't seem to be intimidated by the Julio's size advantage at 168-pounds.
