WBO/IBO/WBA heavyweight champion Tyson Fury is rallying behind his countryman Amir Khan (31-3, 19KOs), who will move up by eight pounds to challenge Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (46-1-1, 32KOs) for the WBC middleweight championship.

A lot of the British fighters are getting behind their man, who is taking on a very dangerous opponent and the man considered to be the next superstar of the sport now that Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao are heading off into the sunset.

Fury does not blame Khan for taking such a risky opportunity, because he was never going to land Mayweather or Pacquiao - two opponents who passed Khan over in the last last six months.

Last November, Fury was a massive underdog when he stepped into the ring with heavyweight king Wladimir Klitschko and he shocked the world by winning a twelve round unanimous decision to become the number one man in his division.

"He couldn't get [Floyd] Mayweather, he couldn't get [Manny] Pacquiao so who is the biggest name out there?" Fury told Sky Sports.

"It had to be Alvarez or [Gennady] Golovkin - but [GGG] is a full-blown middleweight whereas Alvarez is a blown-up welterweight and seems a big puncher, but has hardly knocked anyone out in his last five opponents, has he?

"But remember, anything is possible. Don't forget I went into the Klitschko fight as a 5/1 underdog, as a rank outsider, but I came out victorious.

"If I can beat a super-champion and outbox someone who [most people] thought couldn't be outboxed then surely Amir Khan can beat Alvarez, who has only been a champion for a few years."
