Nottingham’s Carl “The Cobra” Froch has revealed that is still close to his fighting weight as he ponders his next move.  Froch, 33-2 (24), missed out on a fight with Julio Cesar Chavez Junior earlier this year, but there are still options out there for the former WBC, IBF and WBC 168lb champion.

Froch has told The Nottingham Post that he is weighing up his options and is considering the possibility of a showdown with Gennady Golovkin, who hammered Willie Monroe Junior last week to move to 33-0 (30).  Andre Ward, who holds a win over Froch, is also back on the scene, so could also be an option.

“There's absolutely no doubt I can fight again,” stated Froch.  “I'm 37 and I'm walking round seven pounds above my fighting weight.  So that's not an issue.  But I have a lot of options to consider.  I've got a potential career in TV, there's the option of fighting again, but I've got to consider (I've) been out of the ring for nearly year.”

Froch hasn’t fought since knocking out George Groves in front of 80,000 people at Wembley Stadium last year; he rarely talks about that night, but, if he does decide to retire, it would be a nice note to bow out on.

However, there may still be a twist or two in Froch’s boxing career.  He said: “I think the best thing for me is to sit everybody down in the same room and talk it through.  That would be with my trainer Rob McCracken, my promoter Eddie Hearn, and obviously my partner Rachel.  If I fight again, it will be my decision.”
