The “Sheriff of Nottingham” - WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch - has a huge unification bout against unbeaten American Andre Ward on Oct. 29. Froch, 33 and the owner of a sparkling 28-1, 20 knockouts record, and beat Arthur Abraham and Glen Johnson after losing a close decision in Denmark to Mikkel Kessler, doesn’t buy Ward being invincible.
“No, I don’t view it that way at all,” Froch said. “Ward’s not a big puncher, that is key. I will be able to walk right through whatever he throws.”
Froch said the site for the Ward fight has not yet been agreed to.
“I knew the last two fights (in the Showtime Super Six Tournament) would be in the United States. I had no problem with that. I like fighting in the States. It’s nothing new for me.”
The Johnson-Froch bout was held in Atlantic City. Las Vegas looms as the probable site for Froch-Ward. Bay Area resident Ward has been in a comfort zone fighting almost all of his Super Six bouts in Oakland.
