Alex Ariza, the strength and conditioning coach for WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao, does not see Floyd Mayweather Jr. being able to beat Shane Mosley on May 1 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Not only that, but Ariza told Gareth Davies of The Daily Telegraph that he wouldn't be surprised if Mayweather backed out of the fight with an injury or illness.
“I don’t think he’ll get past Mosley,” said Ariza. “I think it’s even possible that Mayweather could come up with an injury or get ‘flu – or the stars won’t line up correctly – because if that fight happens and Mayweather loses, he loses everything. He will then never fight Manny for the amount of money that was originally offered, and he will lose all his pulling power.”
If Mayweather does win, Ariza predicts a decision victory where Mayweather will run from Mosley for twelve rounds while boxing a safe fight to score enough points to take the decision.
