Scott Fitzgerald is set to fight Anthony Fowler in the first quarter of the year.

Fitzgerald, 27, has a ledger of 11-0 with eight early and has been out of action since September in Birmingham.

But he suffered a broken bone in his hand in the fight and has been forced to sit on the sidelines since.

Fowler, meanwhile, ended 2018 with a flawless ledger of 9-0 with eight quick, managing five fights and getting all of his five opponents out inside the distance.

And the pair – who claimed silverware in Glasgow back in 2014 when in the Team GB ranks at welterweight and middleweight respectively – will square off in an eagerly-anticipated super-welterweight showdown, potentially for the vacant Commonwealth title, on a card promoted by Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing that will be screened exclusively live in the UK on Sky Sports and Stateside on DAZN.

Fitzgerald, though, looks set to have a warm-up fight as part of Hearn’s first show of the year on February 2.

The card, at the O2 Arena in London, will be screened exclusively live in the UK on Sky Sports and Stateside on DAZN and is set to feature Ted Cheeseman, the British champion at 154 pounds who is likely to end up fighting the winner of the Fowler-Fitzgerald clash, in a challenge of Spaniard Sergio Garcia for the European crown.

Felix Cash will box on the bill in a vacant Commonwealth middleweight title fight against Rasheed Abolaji, while the British, WBA Continental and former Commonwealth cruiserweight champion Lawrence Okolie returns and the grudge match between Jake Ball and Craig Richards has been rescheduled.

Further additions to the card will be revealed in due course.
