After months of tough negotiations, the Miguel Cotto vs. Saul "Canelo" Alvarez mega-fight was finally signed, sealed and delivered last week. The fight will takes place on November 21st at the Mandalay Bay Events Center and will be distributed by HBO pay-per-view.
BoxingScene.com recently caught up with rising Puerto Rican star, Felix "Diamanté" Verdejo, to get his opinion on the fight.
"That is going to be a great fight," Verdejo stated. "Year after year the Puerto Rican versus Mexican rivalry gets bigger and there are more big fights. I think Cotto has the advantage in experience but Canelo has the youth and he's hungry because he wants to prove himself. It will be a great fight for the fans on November 21st."
Verdejo, who is viewed as the next superstar to come out Puerto Rico, is currently recovering from surgery on his left hand and is planning a fall return. In finishing our conversation, he wanted to let the fans know he will be back soon.
"I want to thank the fans for all of the support and worrying about my hand. I want them to know I will be back soon and be here for a long time," Verdejo told BoxingScene.com.
