Former EBU light middleweight champ Bo Hogberg has passed away at the age of 66 in Gothenburg, Sweden. For the past few years, he battled cancer and also suffered from the effects of a major stroke back in 88.

In his prime Hogberg was known for his toughness in and out of the ropes and quickly became very popular. In the late 60´s and early 70´s, most of what Hagberg did was headline news in Sweden. His marriage and divorce from then famed singer Anita Lindblom and love affair with the future Mrs. Hogberg, Liz Oberg, made wartime headlines in the tabloids. Hogberg fought professionally from 62 through 68 and came back in 73. He went out with a very respectable 37-6-1 and is widely recognized as one of the bravest ring warriors ever to come out Scandinavia.
