There has been a change in opponents for the co-feature of the February 5 event in Montreal, Canada, headlined by Albert Ramirez vs. Lerrone Richards.
Lightweight prospect Dzmitry Asanau, 11-0 (5 KOs), will no longer be facing Claudio Gabriel Daneff, 24-4-1 (11 KOs). Instead, Asanau’s new opponent is Carlos Ramos, 18-3-1 (10 KOs), according to a press release from the show’s promoter, Eye of the Tiger Management.
Asanau, a 29-year-old from Belarus, competed in the Olympics in 2016 and 2021, each time making it no farther than his second fight of the tournament.
He started off his professional career in Germany and has fought since 2024 in the Canadian province of Quebec, where Eye of the Tiger is based. Last year, Asanau outpointed the 30-5 Francesco Patera in April and then dispatched the 27-0-1 Laid Douadi after three rounds in September. This will be Asanau’s fourth straight bout at the Casino de Montreal.
Ramos, a 30-year-old resident of Spain, turned pro in 2016. His three losses came via unanimous decision to the 10-0 Irvin Gonzalez at featherweight in 2018; to Jazza Dickens, also at featherweight, in 2019; and to the 17-0 Henry Lebron at junior lightweight in 2023. He then spent a year out of the ring before returning in June 2024 for a cut-shortened, one-round technical draw. After another 17 months away, Ramos returned this past November and outpointed a 5-4-1 foe.
Daneff, a 29-year-old from Argentina, has also fallen short in his steps up. Among his defeats were a split decision to a 7-2 opponent at junior welterweight in 2023 and a wide loss on the scorecards to unbeaten 140lbs prospect Khariton Agrba in 2024. But in-between those losses, Daneff also scored a good third-round TKO over the previously unbeaten Luis Torres. And Daneff has definitely been more active than Ramos, competing four times in 2024 and twice last year.
The press release did not detail the reason for the change in opponents.
Also on the undercard is light heavyweight Mehmet Unal, 14-0 (12 KOs), a 2016 Olympic, who will take on Altin Zogaj, 17-0 (9 KOs). And junior welterweight Wyatt Sanford, 5-0 (2 KOs) – who won Olympic bronze at lightweight in 2024 – is scheduled to perform as well. BoxRec currently lists his opponent as Alexis Gabriel Camejo, 10-5-2 (1 KO).
The show will stream on PunchingGrace.com.
