WBC cruiserweight champion Grigoriy “Pretty Boy” Drozd (40-1, 28 KOs) commented on the recent decision handed down by his promoter, Andrey Ryabinskiy, who issued a ban on round card girls wearing bikinis during his World of Boxing events.
The wealthy Russian promoter believes girls wearing bikinis in the ring have no place in the sport and he wants to avoid the possibility of any paying fans, or people watching on TV, getting offended by any revealing outfits.
“As a boxer, I couldn’t be any less interested about what the ring card girls are wearing”, Drozd told MK.Ru. “We just don’t have enough time to take a closer look at them in between the rounds."
"But as a fan… certainly, I’d like to see girls in their traditional clothes, as far as our sport goes. I’m totally sure that Andrey’s decision wasn’t an accident and it was well thought out. But I don’t know the reasons. I’ll phone him, speak to him to understand his position. I’ll ask: “Andrey Mikhaylovich, can they wear bikinis at least during my fights?”
