Isaac Dogboe made the first successful defense of his WBO super bantamweight title by blowing out Japanese challenger, Hidenori Otake, in less than a round this pats weekend in Glendale, Arizona. It was an eye-opening performance for Ghana's latest world champion.
Coming into this contest, Otake had never even touched the canvas in 36 previous outings.
"I wasn't surprised but we know that we were going to knock him out but we were prepared for a very, very tough fight. We came in there with the intention of having a very, very tough fight," said Dogboe, who improved to 20-0 (14 KO's).
Now, Dogboe wants to start the process of unifying the division.
When asked who he'd like to face next, Dogboe told BoxingScene.com - "I've said this time and time again, the two people that are on my list are Danny Roman and Rey Vargas."
Many pundits believe that Dogboe, who stopped Jesse Magdaleno back in April to capture the title, is the best in the 122-pound class.
"I believe I am on the way of becoming the best in the weight division and I'm still learning each and every day, every fight I'm approving," he stated.
"So I have to keep working hard and listen to my father and keep learning and I believe I will become the best in the world one day."
Dogboe's return is slated for December and it's not clear who he will be paired with but he has a message for his fellow belt-holders.
"Danny Roman and Rey Vargas are great fighters and we believe that the global fans want to see the best fighting the best, people want to see exciting fights. So they should come forward, their promotional companies should come forward and make these fights happen because it's all about the best fighting the best. I'm ready, I'm sure they are ready, lets get it on," stated Dogboe.
