In a recent interview, former IBF heavyweight champion Charles Martin called out several top names to face him in the ring.

One of those names was Dillian Whyte, who is more than happy to answer the call.

Whyte, who holds the WBC's interim-title, is facing former WBA champion Alexander Povetkin in Manchester on May 2, live on DAZN and Sky Sports Box Office. The current climate of the coronavirus pandemic could postpone that return to a date in June.

Martin had one of his biggest wins last month, in a co-featured attraction on the Deontay Wilder-Tyson Fury pay-per-view from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Martin knocked out Gerald Washington in what was billed as an IBF world title eliminator. The current IBF mandatory challenger if Kubrat Pulev, who will face unified champion Anthony Joshua on June 20 or July 25.

Whyte is not too worried about Martin, warning him that a trip to London will create a flashback.

Martin, in what was his first defense of the IBF title, traveled to London in 2016 and was blown away by Joshua in two rounds at the O2 Arena. Since that loss, Martin has had some ups and downs in his career, but he is currently riding a win streak and wants to face a top name to inch himself closer to another world title shot.

Whyte expects to defeat Martin in dramatic fashion.

"These American heavyweights, they are famous for talking sh-t, but listen, he really needs to be careful about what he wishes for," said Whyte to Sky Sports.

"It might come true. He might come to London and get cleaned out again, like last time he was here. But if he wants it, he can have it!"
