BoxingScene.com recently caught up with former welterweight champion Devon Alexander "The Great" who is getting ready for his February 25th fight against Argentinean slugger Marcos Maidana.

The St. Louis native feels that his power is being underestimated in his fight against the hard-hitting Maidana.  He said that while speed is his greatest asset, he will also bring his power with him as he moves up to the welterweight division.

"Any boxer knows speed kills and that is my greatest advantage.  People under estimate my power but speed is my main advantage.  In any sport speed kills," Alexander told BoxingScene.

Alexander said that he trains hard for all of his opponents and that he never looks past any of them.  He did however reveal that he is very interested in facing the winner of the rematch between Victor Ortiz and Andre Berto down the road.  He also knows that a win over Maidana and a win over the winner of the Ortiz-Berto rematch could possibly lead to a fight against pound for pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr. who works closely with Alexander's promoter, Golden Boy Promotions.

"Of course I would want to fight the winner (of Ortiz-Berto 2). Like you said, I don't look past anybody, but you definitely look at what could be after you get the victory. I want to fight the best at 147," Alexander stated.  "If beating them leads to a Mayweather fight of course I would be happy.  Who wouldn't want that fight?  I want to fight the best" Alexander continued.
