Devin Haney doesn’t seem to believe Ryan Garcia is in shape just weeks before their pay-per-view fight, at least according to recent posts on social media platform X.

Haney will put his WBC junior welterweight world title on the line against Garcia on Saturday, April 20, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The bout will be broadcast by DAZN PPV.

Yesterday PPV.com unveiled a price for Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) and challenger Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs). The announced price is $79.99, and with more fights going behind paywalls, hardcore fight fans are having to budget in 2024 to see the big fights.

Haney recently responded to a video that showed YouTuber turned influencer boxer Deen The Great training beside Ryan Garcia in Derrick James’ gym. The video offered no real insight into the camp as both did mundane shadowboxing.

“Ryan still fat,” quote-tweeted Haney of the video.

The tweet used an aggregating social media platform that shared the quick clip. Garcia’s pre-fight build-up has involved a ton of social media. He has been on X Spaces often. He has been accessible and boisterous. The big question now has become whether Garcia is pulling a charade or is he going through some serious issues? Part of the excitement around what Garcia will look like is fight week and fight night.

“They are claiming I’m fat. No history of missing weight. Not planning to, just be ready,” Garcia responded, via social media.

Haney was not slow in replying.

“Stop using your hands to push the fat down,” retorted Haney. “It’s history of you changing the weight days before.”

Haney is referencing the catchweight agreement for the Emmanuel Tagoe fights at 138lbs., the last-minute notification that the Javier Fortuna fight would occur at junior welterweight, and Garcia’s most recent bout with Oscar Duarte.

That being said, Garcia made the lightweight limit of 135 lbs before his fight with Gervonta Davis last April, and successfully completed the rehydration clause attached to the fight.
