Joshua Pagan is taking on all comers at 147lbs – sort of.

Pagan sparred with WBA welterweight titleholder Rolando “Rolly” Romero ahead of his win over Ryan Garcia last May. Although he hasn’t heard from Mario Barrios or his team, Pagan says he’s open to the idea of working with the WBC welterweight titleholder if an offer were presented to him.

Already on Pagan’s calendar is a showdown with Nicaragua’s Bryan Jimenez on February 10 at GLC Live at 20 Monroe in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The 10-round lightweight bout will be telecast on DAZN.

Barrios, meanwhile, will face Garcia on February 21 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Garcia, 24-2 (20 KOs), will be returning for the first time since his May loss to Romero.

Pagan, 14-0 (5 KOs), a 26-year-old from Grand Rapids, said he gained plenty professionally from being in camp with Romero almost a year ago.

“It showed me where I stand compared to a fighter of his caliber,” Pagan told BoxingScene. “I helped him get ready for the biggest win of his career.”

Romero won a unanimous decision over Garcia, deflating a potential rematch (for the time being) between Garcia and Devin Haney, as Haney defeated Jose Ramirez in the co-feature.

Barrios, 29-2-2 (18 KOs), has had an odd WBC title run, defending his title twice with two draws against Abel Ramos and Manny Pacquiao. Could Pagan provide him a similar boost to the one he gave Romero ahead of a Garcia fight?

When asked if he had gotten a call from the Barrios camp, Pagan said, ”I haven’t gotten any word from him, but it would be nice if they do reach out. My line is open.”

He is now setting his sights on his first homecoming bout against the 30-year-old Jimenez, who holds a record of 18-2 (10 KOs). Pagan is coming off the biggest victory of his career, a stoppage of Maliek Montgomery in October. He continues to build on the experience he gained from sparring with Romero.

“It was a big confidence boost,” Pagan said. “I carry that momentum to my fights after that.”
