Heavyweight contenders Joseph Parker and Derek Chisora are both interested in fighting each other on May 1.

The two boxers have traded words in the last few days, but Chisora took the approach of calling Parker on a video-call to discuss the details of facing each other.

During the call, they both expressed the desire in getting a deal together to collide on the May 1 date.

"I'm ready to rock and roll," Chisora said in a video posted on social media. "Let's get the lawyers in."

Parker, who recently parted ways with longtime trainer Kevin Barry, embraced the idea of making the fight.

"I'm ready for the first of May," Parker responded. "I'm ready for a great fight with you, and I'm ready for you to entertain us. Let's make it happen."

The two boxers were scheduled to fight in October 2019. Their bout fell apart when Parker withdrew with an illness, which he believes was due to a spider bite.

Last Saturday night in Auckland, Parker won a tougher than expected twelve round unanimous decision over New Zealand rival Junior Fa.

It's widely believed that Parker's less than impressive performance was the backbone for his decision to step away from his longtime trainer.

"Without Kevin I wouldn't be where I am today," Parker said. "But the time just feels right. It's fitting that we closed this chapter of my career with a win in front of a great home crowd in Auckland, and with bigger things just on the horizon."

Chisora, 37-years-old, has been away from the ring since October 31 of 2020, when he lost a competitive twelve round unanimous decision to former cruiserweight king Oleksandr Usyk.
