WBC lightweight champion Tony DeMarco is putting the finishing touches in his training camp for his HBO televised November 17th showdown against Adrien Broner. On a recent edition of BoxingScene's official audio show The Boxing Lab, DeMarco discussed the fight.
"Everything is going well. I am at home relaxing right now. We are tired right now but it is good because it shows we are training hard. This is the last hard week of camp and next week we concentrate on making sure we get on weight," DeMarco explained.
It will be a quick turn around for the Mexican fighter. DeMarco needed only one round to finish off John Molina Jr. in their September 8th fight and will be back in the ring two and a half months later which is very uncommon in this day and age. He said that he came into this camp firing on all cylinders.
"Truthfully I really only rested for a week. We trained hard for Molina so we were able to start camp for Broner ahead of schedule. We were able to train a little differently for this fight. We maintained my condition versus getting in shape. I feel really good," said DeMarco.
Broner is known for his flamboyance in and out of the ring but do far hasn't been real talkative in the lead up to this fight. DeMarco thinks that is by design and that Broner's team know that they have a real fight on their hands.
"I think he isn't talking much because I respect him and I think he respects me. His team has him busy preparing for me. I think that is why he isn't talking so much. I think he knows this is a tough fight. He knows what he is in for. I know I am going to win this fight," DeMarco confidently stated.
