Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya, who promotes Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (45-1-1, 32KOs), says his fighter is not going to run from a fight with WBA/IBO/IBF middleweight champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (34-0, 31KOs).

Canelo is preparing for a tough task on November 21st at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, when he faces WBC champion Miguel Cotto of Puerto Rico.

The World Boxing Council has ordered the winner of Cotto-Canelo to make an immediate mandatory defense against Golovkin.

If Canelo wins, a fight with Golovkin is not likely to be next. Canelo wants the fight to take place at 155-pounds and Golovkin is standing firm on having the fight take place at 160 due to the mandatory order.

De La Hoya says the fight will definitely happen in the future.

"Golovkin is being targeted, because the goal is to fight the best in the world. We are not going to turn away from anyone. We are on the same page, Saul as the boxer and me as the promoter," De La Hoya told Rigo Cervantez.

"He is ready to fight anyone and there are a lot of boxers forming a line, waiting for a fight with Canelo, so there is a world of possibilities for the future. I remember when I was 25 and if we look at Pacquiao's career, when he was the same age, he didn't face the kind of opponents that Canelo already has. So I think that he's at a very advanced stage in his still young career."
