WBA heavyweight champion David Haye is firing back at Wladimir Klitschko, the IBO/WBO/IBF champ. Haye says Wladimir doesn’t have the guts to face him at the MEN Arena in Manchester. Haye made both of his title defenses, against John Ruiz and Audley Harrison, at the MEN Arena and wants to fight Klitschko there as well.
“They like it their own way,” Haye told the Manchester Evening News. “They like to feel comfortable. Imagine bringing Wladimir to the MEN – he’d have something he’s never had before, being booed from start to finish. In a hostile environment he wouldn’t know what to do. They love him in Germany, but he hasn’t got too many fans over here, that’s for sure.”
Wladimir defends his titles against unbeaten British prospect Derek Chisora on December 11. Haye expects Wladimir to win very easily. The British champion is confident that Wladimir will be overwhelmed by his speed and power. He expects to knock Wladimir out cold, and that's one of the reasons why Haye is pointing the finger at Wladimir as being the one who is running scared.
“He’s fighting Dereck Chisora so he’ll have an easy night there,” said Haye. “He can’t beat me, he’s not quick enough to beat me. He can call me what he wants to call me, but when the fight happens and once I’ve knocked him out, everything said before will be academic. I will be the undisputed champion."
“Let him get his fight out of the way. I don’t think that will be a difficult fight. I know exactly how to beat him. Speed. He’s never fought anyone with my speed or power. All I’ve got to do is clip him on the side of the head and he will have the same reaction as Audley Harrison. Nobody likes getting hit with the speed I bring to the table.”
