Heavyweight Danny Williams is the latest name to put himself on the list of potential opponents for an exhibition fight with former undisputed world champion Mike Tyson.
Williams pulled off a big upset when he knocked out Tyson in four rounds in 2004. Tyson retired the following year, after a stoppage loss to Kevin McBride in six rounds.
Tyson, 53-years-old, recently revealed that he was training for a possible return to the ring - to take part in exhibition bouts to raise money for charity.
Williams, 46-years-old, has continued to fight despite countless calls to retire. He currently has a record of 54-28, and went 2-2 in four bouts staged in 2019.
Williams last fought in November, when he picked up a knockout win.
“I can confirm that a few of my agents have put my name up to fight ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson," Williams said to The Sun.
"We are still awaiting an answer but it’s definitely a fight I want. I’m very interested in facing Mike Tyson again."
Tyson said last week that he felt good during training sessions. He released a viral video clip, where he showcased his speed and power.
“I’ve been working out, I’ve been trying to get in the ring,” Tyson said in an Instagram Live session with rapper T.I.
"I think I’m going to box some exhibitions and get in shape. I want to go to the gym and get in shape to be able to box three or four-round exhibitions for some charities and stuff. I do two hours on cardio, I do the bike and the treadmill for an hour, then I do some light weights, 300, 250 reps.
“Then I start my day with the boxing thing. I go in there and hit the mitts, 30 minutes, 25 minutes, start getting in better condition."
Tyson has already received an offer of $1 million from a promoter in Australia, to take part in an exhibition bout against the likes of Paul Gallen or Sonny Bill Williams.
