Daniel Dubois says he cannot see his British heavyweight title fight with Joe Joyce going the distance.

Dubois said he believes that Joyce has gained confidence from having sparred him ahead of Joyce’s appearance at the 2016 Olympics when Dubois was a teenager.

“When I look at you I see a massive target and I am going to let loose. This is my era of boxing and I will dominate after this. All his fans will become my fans.

“You are getting destroyed. This is a new chapter, this is the next step in my career.

“I don’t feel it is going to go the distance, he is going to be taken out week before that, in devastating style.”

After a morning appearance at the ITV Studios on the banks of the River Thames, they travelled to the studios of TalkSport and then to BT Tower in central London for a press conference.

After so much time in each other’s company, they were quick to lay into each other at the press conference and when the pair squared up for pictures, Dubois angrily pushed Joyce away when his rival got too close.

Dubois spent much of the press conference arguing with Joyce’s manager, Sam Jones, but even got into some cross words with his mother, Marble, after she decided to ask questions from the floor.

Joyce had become available for the fight when his vacant European heavyweight title fight, scheduled for Hanover, Germany, last month, was scrapped when Huck suffered an arm injury.

He has not boxed since his points win over Bryant Jennings last July and there had been talk of him having a warm-up fight before facing Dubois. But with the O2 arena booked

“They are two top heavyweight who have agreed to fight early in their career, how often does that happen?” Frank Warren, the promoter, said. “With big powerful heavyweight, anything can happen. We all have our opinions. What is at stake is the winner will become a world title mandatory.

“Joshua has two mandatories to take care of, while the loser of Fury-Wilder has the right to call a rematch. By the time all that dust settles, the winner of this will be mandatory.”

Joyce agreed with Dubois’s assertion that it will not go the distance.

“It’s a massive fight and I can’t wait to knock him out,” he said. “My experience is the difference. Who has he fought? Nobody.

“I rate him, you’re on the way up, but maybe you are not ready for me.”

Jones spent much of the press conference downgrading the quality of Dubois’s opponents.

“Nathan Gorman is your only credible win,” Jones said. “You didn’t stay on the GB squad because you couldn’t beat Frazer Clarke. You are a good fighter, you have great potential, but you are going to unravel in this fight.

“You can blame Frank for this after, it’s all Frank’s fault.”
