Terence Crawford (28-0, 20 KOs), a two-division world champion who has won four of his last five bouts by knockout, is looking to make a serious statement when he steps in the ring with Viktor Postol (28-0, 12KOs) for their junior welterweight unification on July 23, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nev. The show will be produced and distributed live by HBO Pay-Per-View beginning at 9:00 p.m. ET / 6:00 p.m. PT.
Crawford is viewed as the next superstar of the sport and was given the pay-per-view platform by Top Rank to begin the next level of his rising career.
Postol is a darkhorse who came in as the underdog and knocked out two feared punchers in Selcuk Aydin and Lucas Matthysse.
Crawford wants to prove that he's the best fighter at 140-pounds and more importantly he wants to show everyone that he can dominate the very best on the highest level.
For Crawford, simply winning will not be enough. He wants to send shockwaves when the fight is over.
"I need to win in spectacular fashion. I feel like me doing that to a guy like him, in Postol, will be marvelous," Crawford told BoxingScene.com.
Postol is trained by Hall of Fame coach Freddie Roach and they are putting together what they believe will be the perfect plan, while Crawford is motivated to spoil their party and he plans to keep switching up during the fight. He plans to leave it all in the ring against Postol.
"I feel that when that bell rings - it's time to go. It's all or nothing. This is what I trained for. This is what I'm gonna go out and do - and if that don't work then I'm gonna go and resort to something else. And if that don't work then I'll resort to something else until I find something that do work," Crawford said.
