Joe Santiago, the young trainer of Miguel Cotto, was shocked with the power of WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao. Santiago watched Pacquiao batter his fighter for twelve rounds last Saturday in Las Vegas. He knew coming in that Pacquiao was very fast but he had no idea that the Filipino fighter was so strong. He admits that he underestimated Pacquiao's ability to take a strong punch at 147.

"We knew Manny was fast, but we didn't expect that his punches were so strong. We hit him with some good shots that would of hurt other fighters but they had no effect on Pacquiao," Santiago told Primera Hora.

Cotto is currently resting his bruised body. He plans to take some time off to rest and then start his comeback in 2010.

"I'm in good health. I did my job, but I didn't get the desired result. Now we are going to take some time to rest and recover," Cotto said. "I knew it would be a tough fight, but I did the best I could. Manny is not one of the best fighters in the world -  but the best fighter in the world. I had respected him before but I respect him even more now. I will continue fighting."
