According to Gabriel Peñagarícano, legal adviser to WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto, there has been great progress made in getting super middleweight champion Andre Ward in the co-featured position of the HBO Pay-Per-View on November 21st at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.
In the main event of the evening, Cotto will defend his title against Saul "Canelo" Alvarez. Cotto and Ward are both promoted by Roc Nation Sports, who are the lead promoter of the event. Two fights have already been set for this card, with WBC 130-pound titlist with Takashi Miura defending his belt against Francisco Vargas and IBF bantamweight belt-holder Randy Caballero facing mandatory Lee Haskins.
"[The Ward fight] is something we're working on and there has been great progress," Peñagarícano told El Vocero.
Ward, who has a record of 28-0 and 15 knockouts, returned to action in after nearly two years of inactivity. He faced Paul Smith and won by technical knockout in the ninth round at the Oracle Arena, Oakland, California.
