When WBA junior middleweight champion Miguel Cotto arrived back home in Puerto Rico, he refused to discuss a potential rematch with Mexican rival Antonio Margarito. Their mutual promoter, Bob Arum of Top Rank, announced the fight last weekend, stating the rematch would take place on July 16 in Las Vegas or New Jersey. Cotto says the Margarito rematch is "speculation" until he gets a chance to sit down with Top Rank to work out the terms.
"We have to sit with the promoter and see what the plans are, and then we'll determine when we return. We have to sit down with the promoter. [The Margarito rematch], this is just speculation," Cotto said.
Cotto fought last Saturdat at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, stopping former two division champion Ricardo Mayorga in the tweflth round. Margarito was present at the post-fight press conference.
