Junior welterweight Jose Miguel Cotto (34-2, 24KOs) jumped on the opportunity to face former champion Paulie Malignaggi (28-4, 6KOs) on Saturday nigth at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Cotto is ready for the fight and hopes that a win over Malignaggi will lead to another championship opportunity. Cotto went all the way up to 150-pounds and was stopped by Saul Alvarez in nine round last May. He returned to get quick win at 147-pounds in November.

"I'm ready for the fight against Malignaggi and hope to get the win, so I can open the door to another title shot for my career. I want to prove I can still be champion. I'm in the best shape of my career. I've been working hand in hand with my fitness coach Andrew Angel Melendez to climb into the ring well prepared," said Cotto to Carlos Gonzalez. "We're prepared for whatever they bring. We know he (Malignaggi) is a technical fighter and uses the ring, but we will follow him to hit him with good shots."
