Julio Cesar Chavez Sr., father and career adviser to former middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (50-2-1, 32 KOs), believes his son will close the mouths of a lot of critics on May 6th.

Chavez Jr. will battle fellow Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (48-1-1, 34 KOs) on Cinco De Mayo weekend - with HBO Pay-Per-View covering the event.

A catch-weight of 164.5-pounds has been agreed upon by both sides, with Canelo heading up from the junior middleweight limit of 154-pounds and Chavez Jr. coming down from the super middleweight limit of 168-pounds.

Chavez Jr. is really motivated for this fight and he feels it's the perfect contest to prove his worth to all of his detractors.

"Julio has to win. They say that he has always been protected and that he does not bring anything of mine [to the ring] and that he uses marijuana and a lot of other sh*t they have talked about, so it is time to make them cover their noses over all the sh*t that they have said about his career," said Chavez Sr. told Carlos Subaran.

"My son is aware of the importance, that he can not lose this fight. He said that he can not lose to anyone, especially Canelo, because of the rivalry - and he asked me to trust him and I do. I told him that he can not lose because it is the fight of his life and the fight where he can close a lot of mouths."

On the other hand, the Mexican legend said Canelo's promoter, Oscar de la Hoya of Golden Boy Promotions, is not telling the truth when he stated last week that fulfilled every request of Chavez Jr.

"It is a lie that they said 'yes' to everything that we asked for and everyone knows that," Chavez Sr. said.

"The fight comes at a good time and the people at Golden Boy think Julio is f***ed and will struggle to make weight because of his history of indiscipline and let them think that, because it is the right time to show everyone that this time Julio will not only bring the surname [to the ring], but he will also brings my genes."
