Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. took offense to the recent comments that were made by fellow Mexican legend Guadalupe "Lupe" Pintor.

Chavez Jr. and Canelo will fight each other on May 6th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. There is a catch-weight of 164.5-pounds in place for the contest.

Pintor explained that he not only felt that Canelo would win, but he was confident enough to bet money on a dominant victory.

He said the power of Chavez Jr. would not even affect Canelo. And also said the weight difference would be a non-factor. Even if Chavez Jr. is 30 pounds heavier, Pintor says the end result would still be the same.

"Canelo will not go down against Chavez Jr. and I would bet on that. He is going to give it to him whenever he wants. Julio can climb up with a 30 pound weight advantage and it won't matter, there is no comparison with their boxing," said the former world champion to Carlos Zambaro.

"The power and punch of Chavez will not even tickle Saul, and [Canelo] will decide when to end it. Alvarez is going through his best moment as a fighter, and I certainly I am inclined to pick him to win.The idol [in Mexico] is already Canelo. He only needs to be consolidated with a great fight and he can be. Saul has come from the bottom to the top to be considered the best Mexican boxer today.

"My respect is for Alvarez , because he built his career despite all the criticism and circumstances. He has taken advantage of every opportunity presented to him. His story was made in the United States, where idols are really forged. I criticized Saul in the beginning because it was too early for what they were doing with him and now he is an established fighter. I have respect for him and I apologize because in the end he's proved to be a great fighter. Canelo has achieved everything based on work. It is not only advertising and marketing, he has proved to be the best thanks to his discipline and training."

Chavez Sr. was asked if he was bothered by Pintor's comments and he responded with some venom.

"No [I don't care about his comments], because he's a screwed up bastard, and that's what I have to say about that," Chavez Sr. said.
