The legendary Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. is not pleased with the money being offered to his son, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (49-2-1, 32KOs), for an HBO Pay-Per-View mega-fight with Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (48-1-1, 34KOs) on May 6th.

Chavez Jr. returned to the ring last Saturday night and won a hard-fought ten round unanimous decision over Germany's Dominik Britsch (32-3-1, 11KOs) in Monterrey, Mexico. Canelo's last fight took place in September, when ge captured the WBO junior middleweight title with a knockout of Liam Smith.

Golden Boy Promotions, who guide Canelo's career, presented an initial offer to Chavez Jr. - and a counter-offer was issued back. The two sides are still negotiating the financial terms.

According to Chavez Sr. - Golden Boy and Canelo are "only offering crumbs" to his son.

Chavez Sr. would not reveal the dollar amount, but there are sources who believe Golden Boy's initial offer was a purse of $5 million. There is no confirmation on whether or not Chavez Jr. would also receive a percentage of the pay-per-view revenue.

"What they are offering does not suit us. Oscar De La Hoya, Golden Boy and Canelo have to put up a reasonable amount [of money], because truthfully what they are offering does not suit us. We will not accept crumbs. We are not going to do what they want. And if they continue with that position - then there will be no fight," Chavez Sr. stated.

As far as the weight, Chavez Sr. makes it clear that they won't agree to anything under a catch-weight of 165. Chavez Jr. would come down by three pounds and Canelo would move up by eleven pounds. He also says Canelo and Golden Boy are requesting a rematch clause.

"The fight would be at 165 pounds. We are not going to do anything less than that," said Chavez Sr. "They are asking for a rematch clause too, we have no problem with that."
