Julio César Chávez Jr explained on his Instagram account that on Saturday morning he stopped to take a picture with police in Sinaloa and at that time he was filmed by a man who took the video and later circulated the footage on social networks, which generated the impression that he was arrested.
Before the unconfirmed versions of his arrest began to circulate, the boxer recorded Instagram stories in which, inside a restaurant, he gave his version of what happened and said that he had not had any problems with the law.
"The police stopped me to greet me and take a picture with them, because they know me. It was 12:30 at night, people were leaving a club, a man who was leaving with some other girls, but it was obvious that he was drugged and under the influence of alcohol. He said they were stopping me. That has nothing to do with it, it was just a photo and it is something that anyone can do with a phone," said Chavez Jr.
Chávez Jr said he is continually involved in situations of this kind, as when a few weeks ago when he was boarded on a flight, someone took a video and said he had the coronavirus.
"Don't believe the gossip they say, the cops took a picture with me. I don't use drugs or alcohol," he added in another story.
Chavez Jr. was in action back in December, when he suffered a stoppage loss at the hands of Daniel Jacobs. Chavez stopped fighting after explaining that a broken nose was making it very difficult to breathe. He claimed Jacobs broke his nose with a head clash.
