According to WBC silver middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., Top Rank's CEO, Bob Arum, promised him a March 2011 showdown with WBA junior middleweight champion Miguel Cotto. Chavez tells BoxingScene.com that he's 100% on board with the fight. Chavez doesn't care about the venue. He's open to fighting Cotto in New York's Yankee Stadium.

They were scheduled to clash in December, but Chavez was reluctant to move forward with contest because his trainer, Freddie Roach, was already holding simultaneous camps with Manny Pacquiao and Amir Khan. Going into the biggest fight of his young career, Chavez wanted to ensure that he would receive the proper attention from Roach.

Before a Cotto fight can happen, Chavez must overcome the challenge of Alfonso Gomez on December 4 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. Chavez is training hard with Roach at the Wild Card Gym in Hollywood, California.

"After I plan to beat Alfonso Gomez, Bob Arum promised me a fight with Miguel Cotto in March, and that's what I want. That's what my plans are. Maybe [it will happen] in Yankee Stadium, or maybe in Las Vegas, but first I have to beat Gomez," Chavez Jr. told BoxingScene.com.
