Bantamweight contender Cesar Seda (24-1) recently spoke to BoxingScene about his plans for 2013. Seda suffered his only defeat in 2011 when he lost a decision in Argentina against WBO super flyweight champion Omar Narvaez.
The 27-year-old Seda is now targeting a title shot in the bantamweight division. He also plans on seeking a title at 122 pounds in the future.
"I would like to fight the WBO champion Pungluang Sor Singyu (43-1). I am very grateful to the WBO because they gave me a shot against Narvaez," Seda explained.
Another fighter on Seda's radar is rising star Leo Santa Cruz (23-0-1). The IBF bantamweight champion had a busy 2012, winning all 5 of his bouts. Seda also said that at he would also like to face WBC super bantamweight champion Abner Mares (25-0-1) in the future. All three fighters are promoted by Golden Boy Promotions so the fights have a good chance of coming to fruition if Seda continues to win.
"I'm very interested in fighting Santa Cruz or even Abner Mares when I move up to 122," Seda told BoxingScene.
He also said that he is very impressed with the all-action style of Santa Cruz.
"Santa Cruz is a very strong fighter with many great qualities. I love to fight guys with that type of come forward style. That type of style allows me to show the best of my skills in the ring."
Seda last fought in December and finished our conversation by saying that he plans on returning to the ring in March. He plans on having a big year in 2013.
"It looks like I will be back in March in some type of eliminator but I am not sure with which organization at this point in time. This is going to be a big year for me. I am re-energized and plan on becoming a champion for Puerto Rico," Seda concluded.
