The delay to the Super Six final clash with Andre Ward has been a blessing in disguise for Carl Froch. The Cobra has revealed he would have been struggling with a cold had the Atlantic City showdown gone ahead on its orignal date of October 29. The fight, which will also be for the WBC and WBA Super-Middleweight titles, was put back. He took two weeks off when it was rescheduled for the week before Christmas, but is now back in full training with Robert McCracken and the GB amateur squad.
"It did me a right favour because I got ill two weeks before the fight with a cold," he told skysports.com. "I'm not talking about the manflu either; I had a real bad chest, bunged up sinuses, headaches and it was dragging on and on. Everyone around me was sneezing and coughing, my 15-month-old son Rocco started it off. I was bit concerned by it. It was five weeks before now but two weeks before the original date of October 29.
"I got ill and I was thinking to myself it was a good job the fight got put off because I felt terrible. But things happen for a reason."
