WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch is going all-out for his upcoming defense against mandatory challenger Jermain Taylor on April 25 at the MGM Mirage at Foxwoods in Connecticut. Froch plans to spend three weeks training in America for the fight. He wants to get the long travel out his system and get his body used to the time difference.
"I need to get the long flight out of my system. It's a tough task because Taylor is top-quality opposition, a marquee fighter. But I am looking forward to displaying my skills out there," Froch told thisisnottingham.co.uk .
He wants to use Taylor's reputation in the sport to make himself a bigger name in America. Froch is going to take the fight to Taylor in the very first round. He wants to make a statement by punishing the former undisputed middleweight champion. For years, Froch has been looking to get out of the shadow of his UK rival, Joe Calzaghe. Now that Calzaghe is retired, Froch is looking to become a big player in the British boxing scene.
"They did not want to go to purse bids and were going to pull, out so I've bent a little," said Froch. "I'm going over to America, which I don't mind because victory over Taylor will take me to the next level. I know the fans over there will take to me, with my style of fighting. I'm looking to do a number on Taylor, I really am. I can promise all the fans that this fight will be something special."
