Eddie Reynoso, trainer of WBC middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (46-1-1, 32KOs), respects the skills of IBO/WBA/IBF middleweight beltholder Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (34-0, 31KOs).

Reynoso also feels the public is overhyping him a bit.

Golovkin has been named as the mandatory challenger to Canelo's belt. Canelo captured his world title last month with a twelve round unanimous decision in Las Vegas. Golovkin holds the WBC's interim title that he captured last year with a two-round knockout of Marco Antonio Rubio.

With the WBC acting as a middleman, an agreement was worked out where Canelo and Golovkin would rake interim fights before facing each other in the fall. The agreement does not legally bind either fighter to do the fight. The fighter who withdraw from the agreement will lose their WBC belt.

"Golovkin is a great fighter and we acknowledge that, but he is not the wonder that everyone believes he is. We also have a great boxer," Reynoso told ESPN Deportes.

One of the issues in making this fight is the weight limit. Golovkin wants the full middleweight limit of 160-pounds. Canelo and his team prefer 155, where the Mexican star has fought in his last four bouts. If push comes to shove, there is nothing that would force Golovkin to weight any less than 160.

Reynoso says his team is looking out for what's best for them and not what's best for Golovkin.

"I am blunt, we are pretty good at 155 pounds," Reynoso said. "We are going to do what is beneficial for us and not [what's beneficial] for someone else."
